It is looking more and more likely that Joe Biden will be the next US Democratic party nominee for the 2020 US Presidential election. That will, as many people have already pointed out, make the centrists in the US Democrats feel relieved, but, as also pointed out, raises the possibility of not enough voters - particularly young voters - turning out to enable Biden to defeat POTUS45.
The suggestion has been made that Biden should choose a more progressive person as his proposed Vice-President, with Elizabeth Warren and even Bernie Sanders being suggested. I think those candidates would be a political and personal "bridge too far" for Biden, but I suspect his team would certainly be alert to the benefits of such a candidate for VP.
Having used my extremely limited resources (news reports and Wikipedia) to review the field of other (current and former) candidates, if Biden chose someone from that field, I suspect it may well be Kamala Harris.
She has the sort of record the centrists would feel comfortable with, but she is also female, young, and reasonably progressive, which would potentially appeal to women and younger voters, and "identifies as black and Indian". Biden already seems to be doing well with African Americans, but this edge may help with other ethnicities.
So . . . Kamala Harris. I won't claim you heard it first here, as someone else (probably with more resources) has undoubtedly looked at this possibility, and possibly done a better analysis ☺
In the meantime: stay safe - wash your hands, practice social distancing, and follow informed medical advice - and be considerate towards those at risk or in situations of vulnerability (including economic) while the COVID-19 pandemic is a problem.
