Over the last few years, I've read much that indicated considerable dissatisfaction with our current national government. We, as a whole, now have an opportunity to do something about that: an election has been called for 21st May, so we can vote them out and have a peaceful transfer of power - or not, if that is the people's choice.
This is the key act of a representative democracy: voting (using what is, in my opinion, the best voting system: preferential).
We, the people, can - and do - argue about shortcomings and improvements in that system, but we can vote without the physical violence, blatant ballot box stuffing (I've seen the film of such activities in some nations), and other problems some (nominal) democracies have.
With a safe and secure electoral system that too many in this world don't have, we have the potential to make this a contest of ideas.
Let's do so.
There are laws about political advocacy during elections here, so I'll confine myself on this blog to posting links to balanced news articles and addressing non-political issues within Australia until the 22nd May.
I'll continue as normal on matters everywhere else.
