We have a Magnitsky-style Act!

Australia has now passed a Magnitsky style act, after some excellent bipartisanship - see https://www.theepochtimes.com/australian-magnitsky-style-bill-passes-the-senate_4134434.html, https://realnewsaggregator.com/news/2021/12/02/australian-parliament-passes-magnitsky-style-laws/, and https://parlinfo.aph.gov.au/parlInfo/download/legislation/bills/s1326_third-senate/toc_pdf/2116121.pdf;fileType=application%2Fpdf

It's a very cut down version of what was proposed by the review committee (see https://www.aph.gov.au/Parliamentary_Business/Committees/Joint/Foreign_Affairs_Defence_and_Trade/MagnitskyAct/Report), but at least a mechanism exists, and the Act has been improved by the amendments (see here and here).

Now for it to be used . . . and maybe improved, down the track, to what was originally proposed . . .
