One of Australia’s most revered Indigenous Parliamentarians and leaders, Senator Pat Dodson, has announced that he will retire from the Senate next year. I have followed Senator Dodson’s work from before his election to Parliament, and have always found him an inspiring, thoughtful person. He may, despite his health problems, continue his activism after leaving Parliament, but I consider his presence in the Senate will be missed.
