Given the extensive coverage of major problems there, I have a special this week’s news on politics in the USA - partly to enable a focus on those issues, but also to ensure issues elsewhere don’t get lost (I may have to do this again occasionally over the coming year):

He is a bitter man, having gone through four indictments, humiliated, he’s going to take it out on his enemies   ...       The challenge is to be able to show people that government in a democratic society can address their very serious needs. If we do that, we defeat [convicted  rapist former potus45]”   

• “Judge hints that [convicted  rapist former potus45]’s election interference trial might be delayed”   https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2024/jan/18/[convicted-rapist-former-potus45]-election-interference-january-6-trial-delay   “The case was automatically frozen after the ex-president appealed judge’s decision to reject his motion to toss criminal charges”   This is what the [convicted  rapist former potus45] wants, and risks making the whole process useless

• “Hydroxychloroquine linked to nearly 17,000 deaths in six countries: Study”   https://www.thenewdaily.com.au/life/health/2024/01/08/hydroxychloroquine-deaths   “A malaria drug hailed as a miracle cure for COVID-19 by the likes of [former potus45], George Christensen and Craig Kelly has been linked to nearly 17,000 deaths in six countries during the pandemic, according to a new study”  

 

My links for activism post may aid any activism you may decide to do on any/all of these. If you do, don’t get too fixated on specific instances of problems - important though they may well be: take a moment to also consider the broader issues these incidents and groups of incidents may suggest/reveal.
