Low quality elected representatives in the USA [Content Warning - links to immature and abusive behaviour]

One of the major sections of my coming “from the news on politics” post will be around the USA’s former potus45. 

This section will include the outrageous claim by that person’s legal representatives that he could order political rivals murdered without punishment unless he first been impeached - which contradicts the rationale of subsequent criminal liability used by conservatives to justify voting against impeaching former potus45. 

Disturbingly, some Australian mainstream media are downplaying that ...  

(Note: the penalties being ought in one case are around US$370 million: any penalty imposed is likely to be less than that, but such a penalty would be politically crippling.)

The other aspect that has been disturbing is the conduct and lack of political competence/capacity of some of the USA’s elected representatives. 

It is like watching grade 3 students trying to run a university lecture - the most ludicrous of conspiracy fantasists and the most egregious of power-at-all-cost-ers ... 

And they were elected, which is, in part, and indictment of politics that has failed “to take people along with changes”over recent decades - and I can understand that, having been in the situation myself of working for change to save people’s lives and finding the whole education shtick exhausting (enough to wind up spending years out of doing anything political), but that doesn’t make it any less essential.(It is also essential to teach critical thinking in schools and to those adults who are prepared to listen, and also what is often termed “civics” - how political systems work, which varies in each nation and thus be adapted to suit each nation.)

It also shows up whatever the flaw is that allowed a small group that was comfortable to be sacrificed to the benefit of others in the world in the name of globalism - and, to be clear, globalism helps more people in the world than it harms, and to greater extent, but by being unsympathetic (and biased against?) those mid-society workers who lose out, the scene is set for later political change such as electing low quality, incompetent representatives (and violence, in some cases - see here, which will also be in this week’s coming “from the news” posts). 

It really is like watching a school playground at its worst, including misandrist gibes and smugness instead of debate. By the way, I prefer not to make fun of people with spelling difficulties: there are people with issues such as dyslexia who cannot avoid their problems, and I have worked with too many elitist spelling pedants who used their smug put downs to avoid thinking of new perspectives. 

Final reminder: do not lose sight of why these low quality representatives were elected - yes, the damage they are currently doing needs to be stopped, but some thought also needs to go into the (sometimes multi-generational) damage that resulted in them being elected.
