It's machine learning, not AI

Somewhere, some time ago, someone in a newspaper probably came up with “artificial intelligence”as a click-bait alternative to machine learning, the proper, and more accurate term.

To some extent, that has worked, as it has caught peoples attention, but it also is inaccurate, and conveys a greater risk of machines (and computers are machines) taking us over, whereas an equal or even greater threat is that of bias and discrimination - ESPECIALLY the so-called “unconscious bias”.

For that reason, I will now try to discipline myself into never using the shorthand “”: I will try to make sure I use:

machine learning (aka AI)
