Academic amathia and gross professional incompetence on gossip

A recent article considered gossip from the point of view of those doing the gossip and those listening. In terms of bonding between those two, the article is reasonable, but in an act of staggering amathia and gross professional incompetence, they neglected to consider

(a) the victims of the gossip, and

(b) the active harm done to reputations and careers by malicious and bigotted gossip.

They seemed to think gossip was all just harmless!

I looked for a way to contact those responsible for this flawed research, but I have to create an account with The Conversation to do so, and I am considering whether that is worth yet another password (the requirement to use a real name is OK, provided it is only used responsibly, and, given the amount of public hate people in minority groups experience, and the obvious incompetence of these authors, I am wary on those grounds)

The article details are:

Remember: we need to be more human being rather than human doing, and all misgendering is an act of active transphobia/transmisia that puts trans+ lives at risk & accept that all insistence on the use of “trans” as a descriptor comes with commensurate use of “cis” as a descriptor to prevent “othering”.
