Sigh. This bloody-minded amathiac pushback is still with us:
This also shows (a persistence of) prejudiced thinking: “Criticism of sacred site decision shows we have learned nothing from Juukan Gorge” https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2024/sep/16/criticism-of-sacred-site-decision-shows-we-have-learned-nothing-from-juukan-gorge
This shows the short-sightedness of corporate thinking: “Why the Far Right Lies about Immigrants” https://www.juancole.com/2024/09/right-about-immigrants.html “Corporations engineered trade deals that made it cheaper to move jobs abroad, where they could pay workers less and pollute more with impunity. As the region’s secure blue collar jobs dried up, so did the local tax base — and as union membership dwindled, so did social cohesion”
This shows the sort of inflexible incompetence often attributed to white, stale, cismale managers (but other managers are also capable of this productivity-crippling, human-damaging, egocentricity) is still plaguing the business world: “Amazon mandates five days a week in office starting next year | Amazon | The Guardian” https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2024/sep/16/amazon-in-person-office-policy
It might help such people to note things like the following:
“The Problem with “Not a Good Fit”: What HR Needs to Know” https://www.cdfirm.com/blog/the-problem-with-not-a-good-fit-what-hr-needs-to-know
The flawed thinking can be more extreme as well. See:
“White House blasts Elon Musk for X post about Biden and Harris assassination | Elon Musk | The Guardian” https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2024/sep/16/elon-musk-assassination-tweet-white-house
The flawed thinking can also be long term:
“Australia’s decades of harmful policy will be repaid in intergenerational trauma, and inquiries can only do so much” https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2024/sep/15/australias-decades-of-harmful-policy-will-be-repaid-in-intergenerational-trauma-and-inquiries-can-only-do-so-much
The other problem here is the amathiacs who put these incompetents in positions of power - such as the voters in the USA who are supporting Trump, and shareholders/Directors who appoint outdated (old fashioned), incompetent, aggressively non-inclusive managers ...

Assumptions / basis
In writing this, I have assumed / started from the following:
- this blog states quite clearly that it is about political and human rights matters, including lived experience of problems, and thus I will assume readers are reasonable people who have noted the content warning in the post header;
Possible flaws
Where I can, I will try to highlight possible flaws / issues you should consider:
- there may be flawed logical arguments in the above: to find out more about such flaws and thinking generally, I recommend Brendan
Myers’ free online course “Clear and Present Thinking”;
- I could be wrong - so keep your thinking caps on, and make up your own minds for yourself.
