Sex, gender, brain wiring, discrimination, empowerment, and unmanaged unconscious bias

The following news articles are, in my opinion, worth noting: 

“Sex and Gender Map onto Different Brain Networks in Children”   https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/sex-and-gender-map-onto-different-brain-networks-in-children/   “A preliminary study suggests that sex and gender are represented differently in the brain”   This might help deal with transphobic bigots ...     

“Independent report into Queensland Children's Gender Service finds no evidence patients were 'hurried' into decisions”   https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-07-19/qld-children-gender-clinic-report-evidence-adolescents-treatment/104114718   The review actually recommended increased resourcing      

From last year:

I came across that report when I found the following corporate article, which raises the issue of unmanaged unconscious bias: 

“... But do these research findings, which show a level of [unmanaged] unconscious bias towards professional women at all levels, come as a surprise?”   https://www.smec.com/au/insights/putting-promises-into-action/     

 

Good food for thought, in my opinion. 

PS - we all have unconscious bias: where that becomes particularly problematic is when it is not managed or even acknowledged. To try to drive that message, I am trying to use the term unmanaged unconscious bias, rather than just unconscious bias. It is early days on that journey, however, so I am having to come back and correct myself, as just done above

• there may be flawed logical arguments in the above: to find out more about such flaws and thinking generally, I recommend Brendan  Myers’ free online course “Clear and Present Thinking”; 
  
• I could be wrong - so keep your thinking caps on, and make up your own minds for yourself.
