In a decision that had unfortunately become inevitable, after a long and well acknowledged career in public service, US President Biden has ended his re-election campaign.
This was inevitable partly because of Biden’s health and performance problems, but also because of some of the most inept, incompetent, one-sided, pro-Trump reporting by the media that I have ever seen.
The media's incompetence/bias was dressed up as bothsidesism, which is often inherently farcical, but I have read some pointed criticisms about the vulnerabilities and commercial priorities of a number of media outlets.
At one time, I would like to have been a journalist, and there are some excellent journos still around, but mainstream platforms in the USA have become conservative and thus inherently biased ... and anti-human existence when they indulge in/include climate crisis denialism - or even fail to cover the crisis ...
I hope whoever becomes the Democrat nominee starts using some of the ads that Kamala Harris has used before - and I would like to see Kamala Harris as the Democrat candidate. She has flaws (who doesn't?), but she would likely energise the US voters and thus address their amathiac optional voting problem - and this resets a lot of issues.
Assuming Kamala does become the candidate (and that is looking likely - she is off to a good start), a talented friend of mine in the US has come up with the below imagery:
I will likely add more over time to this post.
Assumptions / basis
In writing this, I have assumed / started from the following:
- this blog states quite clearly that it is about political and human rights matters, including lived experience of problems, and thus I will assume readers are reasonable people who have noted the content warning in the post header;
Possible flaws
Where I can, I will try to highlight possible flaws / issues you should consider:
- there may be flawed logical arguments in the above: to find out more about such flaws and thinking generally, I recommend Brendan
Myers’ free online course “Clear and Present Thinking”;
- I could be wrong - so keep your thinking caps on, and make up your own minds for yourself.
