From the news [Content Warning - discussion of distressing events and behaviour, including bigotry, violence]

The devastation and devastating ineptness/evil of the climate crisis is being shown in fires in Hawaii - which is preview of what we could face,   and   staggering betrayals such as support for fossils, police overreaction against climate crisis protestors, and the GOP death cult is holding the Earth hostage to white privilege

The sort of insular, unethical mindset that is of concern is also being shown in,   as reported in a The Guardian exclusive, attempts by the Home Affairs department to water down a report which was critical of ‘extraordinary’ counter-terror powers.

Other acts of concern include a staggeringly mediaeval act of barbarity on the Texas-Mexico border,   torture of a domestic servant in Indonesia,    more blatant lies by white supremacists in Australia,   a political assassination in Ecuador,   gaslighting of women over real physical pain,   and   attempts to appease haters/bigots.

On the other hand,   an investigation will examine possible corporate price gouging,   a past regulatory mistake that allowed what I consider a perversion of the media - with commensurate political twisting, IMO - has been criticised,   Indias opposition have staged a walkout to protest against the governments inaction over fatal ethnic violence in one region,   investigations relying on the great and illegal evil of RoboDebt have been paused,   as reported in another The Guardian exclusive, Ukraine’s deputy defence minister has vowed to act over claims of sexual harassment in army & there is resistance to Russias occupation of part of Ukraine,   two-thirds of US people want wind and solar power prioritised and favour government incentives to accomplish that, and 54% see the Climate Crisis as a dire threat,
and   African-Led peace operations are showing themselves to be a crucial tool for peace and security - but that is being tested by the ongoing war in Sudan - which is impacting Chad, and the growing  tensions over the coup in Niger (which some Nigeriens see as an anti-colonial act).

Perhaps above all else, the violence and intersectional bigotry shown by emboldened white supremacists in the USA is both a sign of what is wrong, and what attitudes need to be fixed. From here

“We want to think that the origins of bigotry come from a lack of education ... But I think Kendi is right. It is elites who are the originator of racist ideas. They are using their education to generate bigoted ideas, not dispel them. These ideas are then adopted by working-class people as proper explanations for racial phenomena”

Were back to the perennial problem of the rich and powerful elites (see, for instance, here and here), those that enable their evil, and what to do about it all ... (as an example, see here)
