Letter to MPs regarding the extremism of transphobes

Is response to an utterly absurd decision I included in this morning’s post as per the below, I have written to my local MPs.

• but the biggest and most absurd example of bigotry destroying any semblance of good governance is chess - which is excluding trans women ... chess! A “sport” which does not involve any physical exertion, nor even change-rooms, and they’ve resorted to this utter rubbish ...

Dear Members of Parliament,

This week I came across the absurd and extreme example of the late that transphobes have towards trans and gender diverse people, with a ban by CHESS on trans women - see https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2023/aug/19/trans-women-chess-ban-sports-week-in-patriarchy.

At least those who argue about physical strength etc issues can be seen as having some basis, even if they are wrong, but there is absolutely NO basis for chess to make this decision - it is a staggering example of either amathia and incompetence (to the extent that those responsible should be instantly dismissed) or hate.

I am inclined, based on the rabid displays to date (e.g., signs held up in public accusing trans people of being abusers, violent assaults - including a murder of pregnant trans man and many other TGD people) to lay the door for this at the feet of hate.

As mentioned today by Sally Goldner on her 3CR programme "Out of the Pan", this has to be where everything changes. There is clearly NO concern for cisgender women in any of the transphobes actions, and the truth of their society-damaging hate must be opposed decisively.

We have had outstanding support from the Andrews Government, and I note supportive measures were adopted at the National Conference (and I wanted to wait until National Conference was over before I emailed about this), but there is more to be done - including continued denunciation, more consultation, and anti-vilification protection for all TGD people.
