In recent news reports, matters that are prominent include:
- existential risks from nuclear weapons, the climate crisis (including regional destabilisation), and AI;
- more evidence of past incompetence (or malice?) in governmental bureaucracies - and this historic act to separate poor white people from poor black people is, IMO, unquestionably evil;
- a continuing housing crisis is leading to massive increases in homelessness;
- abuses of power in the form of sexist belittling of a woman, unauthorised acts at a governmental and personal level, and failure to hold human rights abusers to account;
On a more positive note:
- some media coverage has been refreshingly free of sexism;
- another reminder that solar energy could meet the world’s energy demands - if leaders of business and government have the integrity to grasp the opportunity;
- campaigning for a “Yes” vote for the Voice referendum in Australia is being effective at a face to face level, despite ongoing lies by the “No” campaign;
- a review of the effects of full employment as a goal includes that it creates confidence to face change.
So too will a successful referendum on the Voice.
So too does holding despots to account - and that can done by everyday people in everyday life, just as much with those who have perverted the course and character of nations. In fact, dealing with the former makes it easier to deal with the latter.
There have also been examples of individuals and governments/groups (see here, here, and here) standing up to despotry.
If they are of any use of interest, the activism information links from my former news posts are available in this post.

Vote Yes for the Voice in Australia.
Finally, remember: we need to be more human being rather than human doing.
