From the news [Content Warning: climate crisis, war, SA, violence, inequality, discrimination]

In one of those moments when something occurs which may advance life, a suggestion has been made to change dis- to para-, creating the terms parability and para-abled - which could attitudes around the globe for the better.

Meanwhile, in attempts to change attitudes and create equitable access to power to redress centuries of genocidal abuse in Australia, a state version is showing how this would work, but some workers are resenting not being the central focus of attention, and conservatives are continuing their obstruction to decency & a fair go (my phrasing). (Brazil is doing better on this.)

Other examples of resistance to accountability have occurred with Qld police, the court system in ACT (the conduct of the investigator has, IMO, raised as many questions as existed about the legal case being investigated [see here] - and all of this - irrespective of the merits or otherwise of this case & this investigation - will dissuade rape victims from coming forward).

On the the hand, China & Russia are being cautioned by the USA - which is getting closer to holding despot djt to account, Russias informal military have been sanctioned in Africa over their attempts at economic state capture (my phrasing),   and   progressives in the USA has unveiled an “OLIGARCH Act” to “combat 'existential threat' of extreme wealth inequality”. (Examples of the effects of extreme inequality are also visible in the lack of affordable Australian housing.)

In other good news, there is an agreement aimed at protecting the environment and environmental defenders in South and Central America.

Unfortunately, though, the war in Sudan is still continuing - as is the war in Ukraine, and as is also the climate crisis (see here, and here), religious bigots are still trying to throw their weight around and human rights abuses have occurred in Venezuela, the UK, & Kuwait, and provision of cybersecurity in Australia is inadequate.

But activists are saying we need to avoid giving in to despair (don't forget the link to links below), and green jobs are taking off in China.

There is also some writing worth a deep read and reflection:

If they are of any use of interest, the activism information links from my former news posts are available in this post

Finally, remember: we need to be more human being rather than human doing.
